Opinions and checks
Strengths, risks and assumptions to test. Each role examines the proposal with a different task and explains its position.
Before you commit to an idea, challenge it. A small court examines your proposal, looks for weak points and helps you decide what to do next.
A native app for macOS and Apple Silicon. The AI runs on your Mac.

Explore the Court’s journeyThe small court, working on your next project.
The need is clear. What should we test next? Whether people feel it strongly enough to change their habits.
Features
For a personal project, a new startup or that idea you keep putting off.
Strengths, risks and assumptions to test. Each role examines the proposal with a different task and explains its position.
Choose Apple Intelligence or the multi-model court: both analyse ideas on your Mac. No proposal is sent to an external AI service, and there are no API keys to manage.
Find case files, favourites and revisions in the archive. Export opinions as PDF or text, and keep a backup you can import again.
Why spend time building prompts, assigning roles, and managing AI conversations?
Trial gives you a complete AI courtroom, ready from the moment you open the app.
Your idea. Multiple perspectives. One structured verdict.
One-time purchase. No subscription. Runs locally on your Mac.
Choose your local engine during setup. The final verdict follows when your idea passes all four voting stages; otherwise, you get the court’s objections to work on.
The court’s engine
Choose on first launch. You can change the engine in Settings without losing existing case files.
The model built into macOS, available when Apple Intelligence is enabled. Trial downloads no additional models: the mascots share the same engine.
A package of 6 different models distributed among the mascots: some serve more than one member. Dexter uses the largest compatible model. Internet is needed for the initial download; analysis then stays local, even without Apple Intelligence.
Both modes process ideas on your Mac, with no API keys or per-request costs. Different models may still reach the same conclusions.
The court’s journey
From admissibility to Dexter’s verdict. Explore each stage and discover what it takes to move forward.
First, let’s make things clear.
Five members examine the problem, the proposal’s completeness, initial feasibility, usefulness and consistency with its goal. This is the first filter: is the idea clear enough to discuss?
“What problem are you solving, and for whom?”
At least 3 favourable votes out of 5. The stage ends after every member has given an opinion, not as soon as the threshold is reached.
Five members examine the problem, the proposal’s completeness, initial feasibility, usefulness and consistency with its goal. This is the first filter: is the idea clear enough to discuss?
At least 3 favourable votes out of 5. The stage ends after every member has given an opinion, not as soon as the threshold is reached.
Four members look for operational risks, underestimated costs, weak assumptions and contradictions. This is not an attack on the idea: it helps identify where it could fail before you invest time and resources.
At least 3 favourable votes out of 4. A yes means there is enough grounding to continue, even after considering the risks.
Three members examine data quality, the reasoning behind estimates and the feasibility of proposed tests. They assess the figures and assumptions in the case file, distinguishing what you know from what still needs measuring.
At least 2 favourable votes out of 3. This is a reasoned assessment of the evidence provided, not a certified calculation or web research.
Ten members revisit the arguments, objections and tests raised along the way. They compare benefits, resources, accessibility, alternatives and responsibilities to decide whether the case file is ready for the final judgment.
At least 8 favourable votes out of 10. A higher threshold before the verdict: every member still has equal voting weight.
After all four quorums are met, Dexter examines the case file and saved opinions. He accepts or rejects the idea with an explanation: the majority opens the way to judgment, but does not guarantee its outcome.
No multiplied votes or hidden averages. Dexter delivers a separate verdict after the four stages: 3/5, 3/4, 2/3 and 8/10.
One member, one vote: no hidden weighting. All four quorums are required to reach Dexter. A failed stage stops the journey: you can revise the idea in a new linked case file while keeping the original.
A court with character.
Even while you wait.

Installation
Trial will be distributed directly through this website. Downloads are not available yet: here is how installation will work at release.
When available, download the .dmg file from the official link, open it and drag Trial into Applications. Then eject the disk image.
Open Trial from Applications and confirm if prompted. If macOS blocks an app whose source and integrity you have verified, Apple provides this route after your first attempt:
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open AnywayAt launch, your License Key and activation instructions will be emailed after payment. Choose your language and court engine: Apple Intelligence or local AI with the multi-model package. Follow the introduction and open your first case file.
Do not disable Gatekeeper or blindly remove quarantine protection. If macOS reports that an app is harmful or damaged, stop and contact us. Read Apple’s official guide ↗
The licence
Bring it before the court. One purchase, no subscription and no charges for local analysis.
Hi, I’m Tommaso, an independent developer born and raised in Switzerland, with a passion for the Apple world.
I built Trial with a simple philosophy in mind: software for Mac should be fast, quiet, lightweight, and respect your privacy. In a world full of web-wrapped apps and mandatory subscriptions, Trial is built natively in Swift, designed to feel like an integral part of macOS and to analyse your ideas locally, without tracking their contents.
My goal is to deliver a rock-solid, single-purchase tool that just works—every single day.
Your analyses run offline. Internet is needed for initial activation, model downloads and licence verification at least once every 31 days. Your lifetime licence does not expire when that offline period ends.
Before you buy
No. Both Apple Intelligence and the multi-model court process ideas on your Mac and save case files locally. The multi-model court needs a connection to download models from Hugging Face; your ideas are not sent to the download service. This website, payment and licence verification do need a connection. Exported reports may contain your proposal: share them with care.
You choose. With Apple Intelligence, the mascots share one model; with the multi-model court, 6 different models are distributed among them. Some serve more than one member; assignments account for supported languages, and Dexter uses the largest compatible model. Members cannot see other opinions from the same stage. Different models do not guarantee different opinions. They may agree, and they may make mistakes. Trial helps you think: it does not certify feasibility, verify sources online or replace a professional assessment.
You can choose the multi-model court, which does not require Apple Intelligence. You need a compatible Apple Silicon Mac, at least 8 GB of RAM and free disk space for the local model package. After downloading, analysis needs no internet connection. Check the Installation requirements before purchasing.
Italian, English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Your choice in the app applies to its interface and AI responses. Choose on first launch and change it later in Settings. This website currently offers Italian and English.
A personal licence allows 2 active Macs. Initial activation needs internet; you can then work offline for up to 31 days after the last successful verification. Connect at least once every 31 days to renew verification at no additional cost. Before changing Macs, deactivate the licence in Settings on the old device. Verification sends only licence information and the Mac identifier, not ideas or case files.
Your lifetime licence and License Key are not removed or automatically revoked. Only the offline permission expires, and Trial pauses access until a successful online verification. Even after 60 days without using the app, reconnect the Mac to the internet and let Trial verify the same valid licence—there is no need to buy it again. Your local case files remain on your Mac.
